Mission
We are a group of therapists who would like to improve the lives of children with Autism and sensory impairment in developing countries or countries with minimal means. We will do this by teaching the Qigong Therapy method to therapists and parents.  Families can use this method as self-care for their children with special needs; it will help to reduce the symptoms of Autism.

Qigong Therapy
The Qigong therapy education we provide is a proven, touch-based autism treatment for children.  Parents perform the massage technique for 15 minutes each day for up to two years to normalise sensory issues and reduce or eliminate symptoms of Autism.

This gentle, well-researched, easy-to-learn, and cost-effective massage treatment has outstanding effects on the nervous system. By reducing sensory problems, this therapy will also reduce the severity of the disability.
Qigong therapy helps children become calmer, which also has a direct impact on easing parenting stress. Results are apparent after as few as 30 days of treatment.

Qigong therapy normalises the sensory system. Various pressure techniques are applied to the head and body to either increase or decrease the excitability of nerves depending on the child's individual needs.  When the nervous system is normalised, stress decreases; this positively impacts the body's other systems.

Qigong therapy helps to:
  • Reduce stress
  • Relax muscles
  • Aid digestion
  • Deepen sleep
  • Normalise the sensory system
  • Improve self-regulation

Training and Education
Our therapists will provide training to educate caregivers with Qigong therapeutic techniques, which can be used as cost-effective therapy to treat children in developing countries or countries with minimal resources to treat Autism.
After completing the education, our graduates will instruct and educate families and care workers of autistic children in the Qigong techniques. We work together with the Oyesigye Special Child Foundation. https://oyesigyefoundation.org/

Phase 1
  1. Experienced therapists will train 16 therapists in Uganda in the Qigong Sensory method. We are a group of 6 therapists. We will start with online lessons with a test (November-December 2021).
  2. The six therapists will teach in Uganda. It will be an intensive course of a week (February 2022).
  3. After graduation, the Ugandan therapists will return to their hometowns to give parent training and therapy to families with a child with Autism or severe sensory issues. They will teach the parents how to adjust the method to the needs of their child.

Phase 2
  1. The experienced therapists from the Qigong Therapy Foundation will offer online support to the therapists in Uganda, and one or two of our group will bring a visit to Uganda to give hands-on support at the 14-16 different clinics and therapists. We will decide later what will be a good frequency to visit Uganda and for how long.

At this moment, we focus on phase 1: The training of 16 therapists in Uganda by experienced Qigong Therapy therapists.

Therapists:
• Sabine Baeyens, QST Master Trainer, Belgium
• Oyesigye Robert Stuart. Oyesigye Special Child Foundation.
• Jill Brown, Acupuncturist, Tuina and QST therapist, The Netherlands
• Isabella Cattaneo, QST Therapist, Psychologist.
• Mira Warmerdam, Occupational Therapist & Massage therapist, QST therapist, The Netherlands
• Parag Vaidya, QST therapist, India

The expectation of results:
End of February 2022, a group of 16 therapists will be trained in Qigong Therapy. (Theory & Practice)

Long term plans and expectations of results:
Our team will support the Ugandese Therapists for 1-2 years, with online support and a regular visit. We will help them to create a network so they will be able to support each other.

Research on the efficiency of the method:
A lot of research has been done. See https://qsti-nl.weebly.com/research.html
We are a group of experienced therapists in teaching and giving Qigong therapy, and we saw a lot of improvement in the families we supported.

Budgetplan Phase 1
We already have a lot of teaching materials, and what is missing, we will make ourselves. We will not get paid for our work; we are all volunteers.

The total costs are 7500 euro: This will cover the flight tickets, accommodation for the therapists and the students and the materials.

Donations and funds
We will collect the money needed by approaching funds and service clubs, organising a book club, donations.

No one will get paid, other than the travelling and staying costs in Uganda. We will not make any profit with this foundation.

Evaluation
After Phase 1, so after February 2022, we will evaluate this policy plan
